My Hobbies:

I love a good sci-fi book.  I also have a few favorite authors.  Of the books that I have read over the past six months, I highly recommend the following books:

• 1. 2012 by Whitley Strieber (I read it in 48 hours--couldn't put it down!)
  2. The Grays by Whitley Strieber
  3. Ilium by Dan Simmons
  4. Olympos by Dan Simmons
  5. The four book series--alternate history of World War II by Harry Turtledove
  6. The three pre-quel books on the Dune Series by Brian Herbert and the two books that follow ChapterHouse Dune to complete the saga also by Brian Herbert
  7. The two latest series of books that I have become addicted to are: The Saga of the Seven Suns by Kevin J Anderson--total of 7 books and Peter F Hamilton's first two books: Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained has been now followed up with The Dreaming Void which appears to be part of a series also. I highly recommend both series.

This is really not a 'hobby' but I am a 'somewhat' observant Reform Jew.  I attend Temple on a regular Basis and keep most of the Major Holidays.  We Reform Jews tend to be an odd lot.  We do comprize the majority of the Jewish Population here in the US.  Unlike the Orthodox, who observe all of the commandments in Torah (there are 613), we pick and choose which ones we feel are still appropriate to modern life. I:

• Keep Kosher
• Do not shave the five corners of my face
• Observe Shabbat (to the best of my ability--depending on the demands of life in the modern world)
• Don Tefillin on a daily basis (except on Shabbat or Holidays)
• Do not engage non-Jews in debate regarding Jesus (it's pointless)
